Golfing
Mar 29th
So, after about a year of hanging out with golfers, I have decided to take up the sport. I will be playing my first round today. Stay tuned to my Twitter (@mitchellhislop) for pics, and I will throw a post up afterwards on how it went.
p.s. I am posting from my phone (using the WPhone plugin), so this is also a trial run of that
Great News!
Mar 25th
As some of you may have heard via twitter, I was awaiting news yesterday. Well, the news came.
I will be taking a job with Cool Intl as their social media/seo guy. I am done with database linking by the time you read this post.
I want to thank everyone who helped me keep hustling during this tough time.
Metblogging!!

So I am now an official author for the Minneapolis Metblog! Look for me to be posting there 3x per week!
A quick update
Mar 12th
I have wrangled myself out of unemployment. I am still looking, and if you need someone for online marketing/seo/pr/social media, please let me know.
On to the details.
I will be working in the Hamline Law Library doing database updates in…..
Yes, the lovley Drupal. I believe that this may be the coolest logo for a website engine I have seen yet.
I am also doing a website for a local company. If your company needs a website at very competitive prices, please let me know.
I also have a few more projects in the wings, so stay tuned.
Thank you to all those who were of any help in this endeavor. It was a stressful 2.5 weeks, and you all helped me. Especially Mykl “Designer of Things” Roventine, with his work on a twitter background (coming soon-keep looking at my twitter) and his general support, and Meg Canada, who gave me so much advice and support. Joe Olson also helped more than words can describe. I dont want to name any more names, at risk of leaving someone out. If you have recieved a DM from me, or an @reply, or spoken to me in person, you have helped. Thank you. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people that I am.
Last day at fahrenHEIGHT360
Mar 6th
This is such a wierd feeling. I started with this company in June, right after they moved into their new office. I have spent countless hours here, and have grown close to all the employees.
fahrenHEIGHT360 inspired my love of marketing, something I had only considered a “hobby” in the past. Through fahrenHEIGHT360 I found MIMA, which led me to SMBMSP and #techkaraoke. I owe much of where my life is right now to fahrenHEIGHT360, and I cannot thank them enough for this oppertunity.
As of this writing, I am still jobless. I wish I could post about some new route I am taking, or some new venture, bt this is not the case. I have a few leads, and hopefully I will be able to continue doing what I love.
I want to thank all of you who are reading this as well. Chances are you have somehow helped or supported me in the last 8 months.
So, thanks to everyone.
Favorite Things, life edition
Mar 2nd
The following things are a list of things I would have a hard time living without:
~Connectivity (in 2 ways):
I am a super social person. I need to be connected to people, or I go nuts. I always take time by myself to unwind and reflect, but I love being around people.
I am also spoiled that I have had wireless connectivity since I was in 7th grade. Thats 7 years of cell phones, WiFi, laptops and desktops.
~The outdoors:
I grew up climbing professionally (anyone need a guide?) I have spent over a year’s worth of nights in a tent. I have kayaked the Apostle Islands for a week, lived on a beach in Hawaii for two weeks, and still mountain bike, climb, ski, swim, and camp whenever I can.
~My family, friends, and the social media community in MSP (my friends2.0):
Y’all rock. You help me. You keep my ego in check. I can’t rave enough about all of you.
I am super happy with life right now. All that is really bringing me down is the lack of a job, but I am confidant that I can solve that issue in short order.
Unfortunate News
Mar 2nd
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that this is the start of the last week at fahrenheight360. I am an unfortunate victim of the economy. I have nothing but good memories from fh360, and I am still going to be doing some campus marketing for them. I will always remember them as the company that allowed me to break into this world.
If you need part time/project help on your marketing/PR/social media project, or know someone who does, please check me out. My resume and portfolio are linked to in the header above.
