Halloween with my best friends
Oct 31st
Well, this sucks…
Oct 30th
As I got into the office today, I was hit with a ton of bricks.
(Not literally)
I was told that the company was deciding to go another direction with my project.
Yup, I got laid off today.
I have several options, none of which I am willing to talk about on a public forum yet.
I’m a bit down, but no where near out.
I am currently taking the day to relax, calm down, and get ready to go into full time hustle mode.
If you have something that you think would be good for me, let me know.
And thanks ahead of time for your well wishes and your support.
I am going to semi-unplug for a while. I wont see any replies/DMs for a while. If you need me, call/text (612 293 8210) or email (mitchell dot hislop at gmail dot com).

Big props to Mykl Roventine for getting this shot. Even though I hate the break on the pants, still captures how I felt that day. I love, and will always love, the unsummit.
I’m sick
Oct 15th
I have coughed, ran a fever, had a headache, and generally could not go out.
Today I have felt much better, and am looking forward to a full recovery by this weekend.
Some thoughts:
- It should be fun saying that I survived the swine flu.
- It allowed me time to stop and think about some things that I have really had to.
- I got about all my small projects taken care of
- I HATE being sick
- I miss people-I am really lonely, and hate being cooped up
My Presentation from UnSummit 3
Oct 10th
This morning, I did 2 informal presentations.
In 40 minutes, I am kicking it up.
I am presenting on social media, companies, policies, law, and the like. While I am not a lawyer, this is a space I have spent some time in.
If you want the slides, they are below.
Count it. First snow of the year

A Gentleman’s Drink
Oct 6th
Every gentleman should have his drink.
Something simple
Something easy
Something that he can walk up to just about any bar, and order as easily as saying his name.
Not a drink that requires a ton of work.
Not a drink that is only drunk to make one look sophisticated.
His drink.
It should be like the gentleman himself-not over the top, yet not to simple.
It should be something smooth, like the gentleman.
Something he can let a lady try.
It should all be natural, never forced.
Like the gentleman himself.
“Absolut martini, dirty”
Thats my drink.
What’s yours?
